Countries with motorway vignette systems
For passenger cars up to 3.5 tonnes, the main European countries with motorway vignette systems are:
| Country | Vignette system |
|---|---|
| Austria | Yes |
| Belgium | Planned for 2027, not yet active |
| Bulgaria | Yes |
| Switzerland | Yes — outside EU |
| Czech Republic | Yes |
| Hungary | Yes |
| Moldova | Yes, for applicable foreign vehicles — outside EU |
| Romania | Yes — road network vignette |
| Slovenia | Yes |
| Slovakia | Yes |
Switzerland and Moldova aren't EU members, but they are included because drivers may travel there from Belgium.
For passenger cars up to 3.5 tonnes. France, Italy, Croatia, Poland and several other countries use route-specific tolls rather than a general motorway vignette — they should not simply be marked “free.”
How routes are calculated
This tool uses curated typical corridors for common journeys involving Belgium, not a live navigation engine.
A border graph alone cannot reliably determine the driving route — Belgium to Hungary could go through Austria, Czechia or Slovakia depending on the cities selected.
Results are labelled as a typical route rather than a guaranteed itinerary.
